Our commitment to the environment

In 2024, Manufacture 2030’s (M2030) sustainability team conducted their first greenhouse gas inventory for 2023. This followed the methodologies outlined in the GHG Protocol Corporate Standard and was verified by an independent third party.

Scope 1 and 2 emissions

M2030 operates from two offices in London and Oxford. As a result, its primary emission sources are electricity and natural gas. In 2023, these emissions were measured at 16 tCO2e using a market-based approach.

Scope 3 emissions

Like many companies, over 90% of M2030’s carbon footprint comes from Scope 3 emissions. In 2023, these totaled 365 tCO2e. Most emissions arose from purchased products and services and business travel.

A strong foundation for future action

With a baseline in now in place to shape our 2024-25 sustainability strategy, we plan to:

  • Develop a comprehensive decarbonization plan to reduce emissions
  • Set a science-based target and submit it to the Science Based Targets initiative
  • Conduct a double materiality assessment to evaluate our impact, risks, and opportunities (in line with EFRAG’S voluntary standards for SMEs)
  • Submit M2030’s first CDP disclosure

Our goal is to drive the greatest positive impact through policies and practices that promote business growth – while expanding our capacity to help companies cut carbon. We also seek to understand, measure, and mitigate M2030’s sustainability-related risk and impact.
